As the 2023 KBO League enters its final stretch of games, each team has a different schedule. Some teams play all six games a week as usual, while others play only two or three games a week. This means that players need to be on the lookout for injuries and stay in shape.
The regular season has been going on for more than five months now, and the players are already fatigued. This is why most athletes take at least one game off during the season. This is something that teams can’t afford to ignore if they want to stay in the race for the long haul, which lasts about six months.
However, there are still players who have played in every game of the regular season as of Dec. 12. LG Twins infielder Moon Bo-kyung and outfielder Park Hae-min, KIA Tigers outfielder Park Chan-ho, Samsung Lions outfielder Lee Jae-hyun, and Hanwha Eagles outfielder Noh Si-hwan.
Park has played in every game for Samsung from 2015 and 2017-2019, and he played all 144 games last year, his first season after joining the team as a free agent. This season, he has done his part without any major injuries and is on track to play in all games for the second straight year.
Moon Bo-kyung, who has played more than 100 games in each of the past two seasons, is looking to make her debut. Park, who first broke into the first team in 2014, has been playing full-time since 2019, but has never played all 144 games in a season. This season, his slump was prolonged, with a single-digit batting average in the month of April, but he picked up the pace and rebounded in May. It’s looking increasingly likely that he’ll be able to play in his first full game.
Second-year pro Lee Jae-hyun is another player who could be in line for a full roster spot. His season stats are 121 games, 393 hits, 98 runs, .249 batting average, 10 home runs, and 49 RBIs, and he hasn’t missed a game since suffering a dislocated shoulder.
