A horrific incident has occurred in Dutch soccer in which a player assaulted an opposing fan.

Ajax striker Steven Berhuis (32-Ajax) punched an alleged Twente fan before boarding the team bus after the team’s 38th round match of the 2022-2023 Dutch Eredivisie season against Twente at the Enschede de Grolsch Veste Stadium in the Netherlands on Aug. 28.

Berhawis exchanged a few words with the fan before suddenly lunging at him. Bystanders watched the assault, which was caught on camera.

When he was done, Berhawis pointed a finger at the fan and threw a few words at him before getting on the bus.

Local Dutch media reported that Berhuis had lost his temper after a racist remark from a Twente fan directed at his black teammate Brian Bobby.

He was also upset by the result of the game. Ajax suffered a shock 1-3 defeat and finished the season in third place behind Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven. It was their worst finish in 14 years and they failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.스포츠토토

Berhawis apologized immediately following the controversy. “I regret my behavior. I shouldn’t have done that,” he apologized on his personal channel. “Every time we play away, we get a lot of threats. I’m used to it now, but people think they can say anything. I know my behavior is not good, it doesn’t solve anything. I have to set an example as an Ajax player.”

Ajax have not yet issued an official statement.

Berhuis joined Ajax in 2021 from Twente after spells at AZ Alkmaar, Watford and Feyenoord. He scored two goals in 45 appearances for the Netherlands national team.
