The Philadelphia Phillies have strengthened their outfield defense ahead of the season opener.
Philadelphia announced on the 30th (Korean time) that it had agreed to a trade under the name of president Dave Dombrowski to the Oakland Athletics for right-hander Billy Sullivan (24) for outfielder Christian Pache (25).
Pache is a player who appeared in 115 games in three seasons in the major leagues. His main position is center fielder. 먹튀검증
Born in the Dominican Republic, from 2019 to 2022, he consistently entered the top 100 in the prospect rankings selected by ‘Baseball America’. In the 2021 pre-season rankings, it rose to 7th place.
It seems that it has not yet grown as much as expected. Last season, he played 91 games for Oakland, batting average of 0.166, on-base percentage of 0.218, slugging percentage of 0.241, 3 home runs and 18 RBIs.
He doesn’t stand out on the batting side, but he is showing outstanding performance on defense instead.
‘MLB.com’ reported that he had the fifth-best Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) with +5 among center fielders in the 2022 season, as well as an Outs Above Average (OAA) percentile of 94% (+7) and arm power (throwing speed of 92.3 mph) percentile. It was introduced that he showed a high-level defense with 92%.
Sullivan was selected by the Phillies in the 28th round of the 2017 draft, but chose to go to college, and joined hands with the Phillies again as a non-drafted free agent in 2020.
He went 5-1 with a 4.59 earned run average in 51 innings in 44 appearances at Double-A last season.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia moved Rhys Hoskins to the 60-day disabled list after suffering a knee ligament injury to make Pache’s spot on the 40-man roster.
