There is no batting order to bat first through ninth. So there was no need for a substitute. LG won the game with its strongest batting lineup.
LG won 10-4 against SSG in Jamsil on the 16th. The batting lineup stood out for its ability to explode at any time. Once they had a chance, they scored multiple runs with high concentration regardless of the top or bottom of the lineup. After falling behind in the top of the sixth, they scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth and three in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
It was a multi-hit party at the plate with 15 hits. Leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, while Moon Bo-kyung went 3-for-4 with a home run and one RBI. Shin Min-jae, Austin Dean, and Park Dong-won each had two hits. Park Hae-min stole second base after a single to left in the fifth inning, marking the 10th consecutive season with 20 or more stolen bases. That’s the second-longest streak in program history, the longest being Jung’s 11 years.
Starting pitcher Casey Kelly allowed four runs in 5.1 innings. She was scoreless through five innings, but struggled in the top of the sixth. Kim Jin-sung came on in relief of Kelly and pitched 0.2 scoreless innings. In the top of the seventh, Yoo Young-chan struggled with his pitches, but Baek Seung-hyun worked 0.2 innings to stop the offense. Choi Dong-hwan in the eighth and Lee Sang-young and Lee Woo-chan in the ninth completed the victory.
With the win, LG, which has won two straight, improved its record to 72 wins, 47 losses and two ties. They are six games behind second-place KT and 6.5 games behind third-place NC.
LG took the early lead. In the top of the first inning, leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki singled to left and stole second base. With no outs, Hong advanced to third on Shin Min-jae’s grounder to shortstop and came home on Kim Hyun-soo’s grounder to first base.
With the bases loaded in the first inning, Kelly was solid on the mound. Kelly used his four-seam fastball early on to aggressively work the strike count. After the SSG batters had circled the bases, he switched to a changeup.
The batters also helped Kelly with their hitting. Two batters later in the second inning, Park Sung-han singled to load the bases, but Park Dong-won made a strong throw to second base to catch Park Sung-han with a wide lead. In the top of the fifth, leadoff hitter Park Sung-han hit a single to right field, but Hong Chang-ki made a sliding catch. The last out of the fifth inning was made by Oh Ji-hwan, who showed off his strong shoulders.
After the rain, the runs came. LG showed its intensity in the bottom of the fifth inning. Park Hae-min singled to left and stole second base. With two outs, Hong Chang-ki singled to right. Shin Min-jae followed with a single to left, putting runners on first and second. On the next at-bat, Kim Hyun-soo singled to center field to make it 3-0 LG.
Down by a run, SSG quickly turned the game around in the top of the sixth inning. After the first inning, they reached base in six consecutive at-bats with five hits and a walk. Choo Shin-soo led off with a single to left, followed by Choi Ji-hoon’s double to right, and Choi Jung drew a walk to load the bases. With one out, Heredia singled to right to score the first run. Choi followed with an RBI double to center field to tie the game at 3-3.
LG suddenly pulled the shaky Kelly and brought in Kim Jin-sung, but SSG’s momentum didn’t stop. Park Sung-seong lined a forked ball to right field to make it 4-3. SSG had taken the lead.
LG didn’t go down without a fight. They scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead again. Moon Bo-kyung doubled and Park Dong-won walked to start the inning. Moon Sung-joo grounded out to first base, putting runners on second and third. Park Hae-min drew a walk against reliever Ko Hyo-joon to load the bases.
With the bases loaded, the most reliable hitter in the lineup, Hong Chang-ki, stepped up to the plate and laced a two-run double to center field on Park’s slider. With LG back in the game, Shin Min-jae added an RBI double with runners on second and third to give LG a 7-4 lead.
The game continued to heat up in the top of the seventh inning. SSG pinch-hitter Choi Hang drew a leadoff walk. Choo Shin-soo walked. After Choi Ji-hoon flied out to center field, LG replaced Yoo Young-chan with Baek Seung-hyun, whose pitches were shaky. Baek struck out Choi on a wild pitch, but gave up a walk to Heredia to load the bases. Facing Choi Joo-hwan with the bases loaded, Seung-hyun Baek struck out Choi with a slider to keep the game scoreless.먹튀검증
It was an opportunity after a crisis. LG scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead. After a leadoff double by Austin, Moon Bo-kyung doubled, Park Dong-won singled up the middle, and Moon Sung-joo tripled. With a 10-4 lead, they had plenty of room to maneuver. The backups took the field.
For SSG, starter Oh Won-seok gave up five runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings. Go Hyo-joon came on in relief but gave up two runs in 0.1 innings. Choi Min-joon gave up three runs in 1.1 innings as the pitchers struggled against the LG bats. Choi Ji-hoon and Park Sung-haeng had two hits, but their efforts were overshadowed by the loss.
