Brooks Reilly (New York Mets) will likely be with the Mets next year.
Mets local media outlets recently reported that the Mets are expected to exercise the team option for 2024, as Reilly is the lefty the team needs. His salary next year is $6.5 million. Reilly has reportedly said he wants to stay with the Mets.
Reilly signed a two-year, $10 million deal with the Tampa Bay Rays before the 2022 season, with a $6.5 million club option for 2024. He was traded to the Mets prior to this season. If the team option is not exercised, Raila will owe a $1.25 million buyout and could hit free agency.
After posting a 2.68 ERA for the Tampa Bay Rays last year, Railey has been a solid performer for the Mets this year, posting a 2.94 ERA through 15 starts.
One of his strengths is his ability to strike out batters. In 2021, he struck out 65 batters in 49 innings for the Houston Astros, and last year he struck out 61 batters in 53.2 innings. This year, he has 52 strikeouts in 49 innings.먹튀검증
The Mets mulled over trading Railey before this year’s trade deadline, but kept him because he is the only lefty in the organization’s bullpen.
Railey previously spent five years as an ace with the Lotte Giants of the KBO.
After not re-signing with Lotte after the 2019 season, Railey decided to give the major leagues another shot. After signing a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds, he made it to the big leagues, but was traded to Houston during the 2020 season.
