Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has a secret plan to stop ‘monster striker’ Elling Holland.
Inter Milan will host Manchester City in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League final at the Atatürk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, on Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. ET.
Ahead of the showdown that will determine who is the best club in Europe this season, Inzaghi held a press conference on Tuesday.
During the press conference, Inzaghi opened up about City’s No. 1 target, “monster striker” Holland. Holland led City’s scoring this season with a whopping 52 goals in all competitions.
He won the Premier League Golden Boot after scoring 36 goals in the league alone, and has scored 12 goals so far in the Champions League to take City to the final.
With the likes of Mohamed Salah (8 goals-Liverpool) and Kylian Mbappe (8 goals-PSG) out of the competition, Holland is effectively the Champions League’s top scorer this season.
With Inter Milan looking to win the Champions League for the first time in 13 years since the 2009/10 season, it’s imperative that they shut him down, and Inzaghi has a plan.
“We have prepared something to stop him,” Inzaghi said.
“I have something in mind, but it’s going to take the whole team,” he said, explaining that it’s up to them to stop not only Holland, but all the City players.
“We know we are about to play the best team in the world, but we will give everything to win,” he said.
“We have to show all the fight, will and spirit we have to get the result we want,” he added.
City have already won the Premier League and FA Cup and are eyeing the ‘triple’. If they also win the Champions League, they will be the first English club to do so since Manchester United in 1998/99.스포츠토토
While many fans and pundits are predicting that City’s dominance in all competitions this season will see them easily dethrone Inter Milan and be crowned champions, there’s a famous saying in sports: the ball is round.
It will be interesting to see if Inter Milan, who are just as desperate to win the Champions League as City, can upset the odds and put their game plan to work.
