Cincinnati Reds “monster rookie” Eli De La Cruz, 21, has risen to the top of the prospect rankings.
De La Cruz was named the No. 1 midseason prospect by Baseball America, the nation’s leading baseball publication, on Friday.
De la Cruz, who was ranked No. 8 in the preseason, jumped to the top of the list after a monster performance in his big league debut, batting .325 with a .363 on-base percentage, .524 slugging percentage, four home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in 30 games.
With a 6-foot-2, 196-pound frame, he impressed with his ability to hit for both power and speed. In one game, he stole second, third, and home in a row.바카라
ESPN noted that he was the first player in major league history to record 40 hits and 15 stolen bases in his first 30 games.
Baseball America graded his stats at 40 hits, 70 power, 80 runs, 55 defense, and 80 arm strength, saying, “By the end of his first week in the majors, he’s shown he can be a franchise mainstay with power, speed, and athleticism.”
In second place was Jackson Halliday, the son of Matt Halliday and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft.
Halliday batted .331 with a .466 on-base percentage and .523 slugging percentage in 71 games at Single-A and High Single-A this season, earning a promotion to Double-A following his Futures Game appearance.
Right-hander Paul Skins, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the first overall pick in this year’s draft, was selected sixth overall, the highest of any pitcher. He is coming off a 2023 season at Louisiana State University where he went 12-2 with a 1.69 ERA in 19 appearances.
“The only question now is, how soon will he be able to help a big-league team,” Baseball America wrote.
