Choi Ji-Man (Pittsburgh Pirates) hits a home run against Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Angels).

Choi went 1-for-4 with a home run, one RBI, one run scored, one run batted in and one strikeout in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Angels Stadium on 22 June (KST).

In his first at-bat against Ohtani in the top of the first inning, he flied out to the outfield, but showed off his power in his second at-bat.

With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, Choi lined a high-forming cutter (87.6 mph) from Ohtani on a 1B2S pitch for a solo home run over the right field fence. It was his fifth home run of the season in five games, dating back to 15 July against San Francisco. It travelled 122 metres and hit at 171.7 mph.

Prior to the game, Choi had gone 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against Ohtani, but the blast gave him his first hit of the season.

In the top of the fifth, his last at-bat against Ohtani, he hit a low splitter on an unfavourable pitch count (2S) but was out on an infield grounder. In his final at-bat in the top of the eighth after Ohtani was sent down, he struck out looking.바카라

Choi, who hit his fifth home run of the season, raised his average to .186. Since returning from injury on the eighth, Choi has shown off his power with three home runs in nine games, including today’s blast.

Los Angeles Angels starter Ohtani wasn’t great, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings, but he was supported by his bats as he picked up his eighth win of the season.
