Called 3 times in a row.
Jose Rosado (49), Hanwha pitching coach, will coach the Puerto Rico national team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC). The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) has recently officially announced that Rosado has been appointed as the bullpen coach for the WBC national team. With this, Coach Rosado experienced the WBC stage three times in a row. He previously coached the Puerto Rico national team in 2013 and 2017. At that time, Puerto Rico took second place and showed off its strong side. He also served as pitching coach in the 2019 Premier12.
Coach Rosado boasted a brilliant career during his active career. He played 125 games in 5 seasons with the Kansas City Royals from 1996 to 2000, recording 37 wins, 45 losses, 1 save, and an earned run average of 4.27 안전놀이터. He served as the team’s ace and was named an American League (AL) All-Star twice in 1997 and 1999. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury prevented him from playing for a long time. After his retirement, his leadership career began. After coaching the New York Yankees minor league, he joined Hanwha in 2021 following coach Carlos Subero.
Coach Rosado is likely to be of great help to the Puerto Rico national team. He has extensive experience in coaching the national team and has a high understanding of Korean baseball. “Rosado’s experience is indispensable to us,” said Joey Sola, Puerto Rico’s national team captain. He expressed his anticipation, saying, “He will help the pitching staff with his great skills.” Coach Rosado also said, “I am grateful to God and the federation for making me a member of the WBC national team for three consecutive tournaments. The touching and wonderful memories of 2017 cannot be expressed in words. I will take on the challenge with great passion.”
The 2023 WBC will be held in March. Most of the teams will begin full-scale training from February. The schedule partially overlaps with the Hanwha Spring Camp period. A Hanwha official said, “There are still administrative procedures left. We plan to proceed according to the procedure,” he explained. Even if Coach Rosado joins the Puerto Rico national team, there is a high possibility that he will lead Hanwha training to some extent before passing on. Furthermore, head coach Lee Dae-jin, bullpen coach Park Seung-min, and pitching performance coach Lee Dong-geol are expected to contribute. Unfortunately, it is expected that it will be difficult to see Hanwha players on the WBC stage. There are no players from Hanwha in this 30-man roster.
